Go to the Chevy Duramax Forums and ask around or read about the LB7. I have a 2006 LBZ, it ahd the corrosion problem with the Glow Plugs which Chevrolet refuses to pay for Dealer charged $940 for them. Will never buy another Chevy product and don't recommend them. If I can get one person to buy a Ford instead, Chevy will eat 940 anyway. At 70 K my injectors are balanced at .02-.03 for all 8 so that's a blessing
The 2006 glow plugs are covered under the emissions warranty which IIRC is 7 years. Had to tell the local dealer and GM where to find it in the warranty booklet as I was beyond the 5 years. Under the emissions, there is a $100. deductible after the 5 year/100,000 mile warranty. I had 3 separate failures. First was a $100. the second-several months later-was under a "good will" gesture and cost nothing. The third I went to Auto Zone and bought a new Bosch for $20.00 and changed it myself. Needed a set of deep well sockets. If I had known how easy they were to change I would have never let the dealer do the first one. There are some cases where they are all changed under warranty and other cases where the charge is $100 when the glow plugs show a certain OHM reading. Don't remember what it was but someone on the Diesel Forum gave it to me. Loved that truck so much that I bought a new 2013.
