Insulation In the Minnie by Winnebago?

I have looked but don't understand what insulation is being used on the new Minnie. It has a fiberglass exterior but it doesn't say anything about being "laminated" so I am hoping that it is spun fiberglass since we do not want "laminated" exterior. If I don't get an answer, I will call the manufacturer next week and see if I can get an answer. I could find nothing on the web showing the construction taking place. Thank you.
  • After thinking about this thread for a couple of minutes, I decided to send an email to Winnebago, and would encourage others to do the same.

This past summer, I purchased a 2201DS travel trailer, and have been very
pleased with the unit so far. But, I have a couple of questions that I'm hoping
you can help me with, or tell me where to get the information.

    1. Can I get more detailed information about the construction/lamination of the
outside walls of the trailer? I really think it would be a good idea to provide
more information about the construction techniques and materials used in
    Winnebago towables.

    2. Is it possible to get a schematic of the electrical wiring for my 2201DS?
I want to install a 12 volt reading light on the side of the wardrobe located
next to the left side of the bed.

    3. Now that I've winterized my unit for winter storage (near Cleveland, OH), I
think you really need to provide specific instructions for winterizing trailers.
Having owned trailers for quite a few years, I was able to figure it out. BUT,
with the 2201DS, I had to figure out that I needed to remove a wooden panel
under the kitchen sink in order to access the water pump in order to pump rv
    antifreeze through the lines.

And, better directions are needed for managing the water heater by pass valves
and drain system. The system is nicely plumbed, but the consumer needs to know
proper settings for 3 valves when configuring the plumbing for normal or bypass
    operation.

While I can understand Winnebago being sympathetic to encouraging owners to have
work done by the dealer where purchased, the reality is that a large percentage
of owners prefer to do their own work, or are living a considerable distance
    from an authorized Winnebago dealer.

    4. While the owners manual provided is nicely written, it is too generic
because it is intended to be applicable to all towables. At the minimum, a
separate addendum should provide specific information and procedures for the
    specific trailer purchased.

Thanks for any assistance you can provide!

I'll share any response I get.

  • Thanks. It is the "laid up" that is stumping me. That appears to be a better choice than "laminated". I have seen many used trailers on the market that are delaming even high end.
  • I'd be interested to hear what you find out. I had a series of communications with Winnebago when I was arranging to have a ladder installed at the factory, and at one point, told them that I think they should have more information available on their web site and gave Jayco as an example. The Jayco web site certainly does a good job of selling Jayco's quality and shows quite a bit about how their trailers are built. With Winnebago being new in the towable market, you would think that they would want to make more info available. Unfortunately, I think they are relying on their name and reputation rather than really providing details about their towables.

I would suggest that also email Winnebago regarding your interest in more information. And if enough owners do the same, maybe they'll do a better job of providing information to owners and those considering purchasing Winnebago towables.
  • We bought a cherry 2451 about a month ago. The fit and finish continue to impress us. Please do post any information Winnebago relays to you about these cool ultralite trailers.
  • Winnebago has never made any effort to push me towards the original selling dealer for service. I have not had any trouble getting service from my local dealer. I tend to feel the issue is with individual dealers and not the manufacture.
  • I called this morning and only reached the operator but left a message saying my thoughts and told them they could call back or not but to at least consider my suggestion of showing the construction of the Winnie and mentioned the fact that Jayco does a really good job on their website. At this point, unable to understand what the construction consists of and what the frame looks like, we could not consider looking at them.
