Camper, just like any cargo is covered by auto insurance (with its limits) when house umbrella policy can add to it.
I don't buy $50,000 campers, so never worried about it.
I would say "consult your insurance agent" but as above shows, you can't trust those guys and I had bad experience with agency in the past as well.
And don't consult Kayteg either. Camper is not just automatically covered like any other cargo on your auto policy.
This forum should be called Falseinfo.Net based on a great number of the member's "theories."

Homeowner policy usually is the best if you can use it.
I did have tools stolen from my rental property storage.
The rental property policy would not cover it, but my homeowner policy paid for it.
Another thing lot of people don't realize - HO policy is the cheapest way to get $1 millions liability coverage - extending your auto policy.

If you had $5000 worth of expensive furniture in your truck and you were in a crash and rolled the truck and ruined the furniture, the auto policy would cover damage to the truck and homeowner's would cover the loss of the furniture. Same with the camper, it's personal property like furniture, not a vehicle.
