Interesting article on brakes

My wife gets build up all the time on her work car. I just take it out and beat on the brakes for a little bit and it always stops the shaking.

They have little 3M pads for drills that an auto parts store had me use to clean the rotors. They come in different cleaning grades.

You will find that the drum brakes on trailers depend even more on those adhesives to be seasoned before the brakes are very effective. The brake manufactures spell out a "burnishing" routine for new brakes.

I solved my "warped" rotor problem on my E150 by using ceramic pads and premium quality rotors.

Basically, it is getting the friction material binders to cure them and then not allow that 'out gassing' to condense on a single spot of the rotor

But, an even layer on the whole swept surface. Best braking or highest co-efficient of friction is when friction material brakes on friction material (properly bedded in)

Only takes a few thousandths of an inch to make a high spot that the brake pad will have higher co-efficient of friction and 'try' to stop a bit better/faster....and....that will be felt in the brake pedal to your foot. Many think that is a warped rotor

Do disagree with most folks (and experts) that there is no such thing as a warped rotor...I've measured many that were out of spec (warped)

Yeah, I've read stuff like that a couple years ago. It would be easy enough to check. If you feel like you have a warped rotor, just check the runout. Not a big deal.
