- srt20ExplorerMy wife gets build up all the time on her work car. I just take it out and beat on the brakes for a little bit and it always stops the shaking.
- Me_AgainExplorer IIIThey have little 3M pads for drills that an auto parts store had me use to clean the rotors. They come in different cleaning grades.

I hadn't thought about it being the adhesives in the pad. I have had mine feel like the rotors were warped after a hard stop and then get better after a few normal stops so this makes total sense to me.
You will find that the drum brakes on trailers depend even more on those adhesives to be seasoned before the brakes are very effective. The brake manufactures spell out a "burnishing" routine for new brakes. - Roger10378Explorer III hadn't thought about it being the adhesives in the pad. - mosseaterExplorer IIvery interesting article. Thanks for sharing.
- theoldwizard1Explorer III solved my "warped" rotor problem on my E150 by using ceramic pads and premium quality rotors.

BEDDING IN NEW FRICTION MATERIAL
Basically, it is getting the friction material binders to cure them and then not allow that 'out gassing' to condense on a single spot of the rotor
But, an even layer on the whole swept surface. Best braking or highest co-efficient of friction is when friction material brakes on friction material (properly bedded in)
In the below links, the best at that time, was an article by StopTech, but they removed that and replaced it with this one: StopTech: The "Warped" Brake Disc and Other Myths of the Braking System
Their index of tech articles:
http://www.stoptech.com/technical-support/technical-white-papers
This image from StopTech is what this topic is about:
Only takes a few thousandths of an inch to make a high spot that the brake pad will have higher co-efficient of friction and 'try' to stop a bit better/faster....and....that will be felt in the brake pedal to your foot. Many think that is a warped rotor
Do disagree with most folks (and experts) that there is no such thing as a warped rotor...I've measured many that were out of spec (warped)

[url] - fj12ryderExplorer IIIYeah, I've read stuff like that a couple years ago. It would be easy enough to check. If you feel like you have a warped rotor, just check the runout. Not a big deal.

Doesn't seem like their suggestions could be damaging anyway. - gboppExplorerIt is interestkng, thanks for posting.
