Is my Ram 2500 a wimp or am I missing something here?
In the market for a 5th wheel, and I know I need to be careful about weights - but I'm trying to get in the ballpark for camper weights to see if what I want is reasonable.
I just looked up the specs for my truck - and if I'm reading it right, my payload is only 2460... So if I put 600 pounds of people/dogs/fuel in the truck (grabbing a number out of thin air as an example), that leaves 1860 pounds for pin weight -- Isn't that how you calculate to get the number?
If I am supposed to guesstimate 24% or so as pin weight, that means I am limited to a 5th wheel with a "camp ready" weight of about 7800.
Can this possibly be right?
