and agree, OPEC is no longer the main control org of crude pricing...


Outsourcing was much simpler when those countries were way down on
the peer scale...but, after paying them to build up their infrastructure...that
whole thing has changed...except for bean counter exec's continue
to out source to reduce their costs & build their bonuses based on
quarterly profit numbers

Other metrics that are also going to drive this, other than the old
vision of westward movement for the next manufacturing region/country/etc
has already started...and that is build to order.

Not for very complex and large products like a vehicle, but small things
like cell phones, etc. So manufacturing will no longer adhere to either
the westward movement or cheap costs and much more

Funny stuff if it was not causing so much pain. First world consumers build global logistics to enjoy cheap imports. Then are surprised to find the supply train runs in both directions.

People want their Wal-Mart, and to keep high paying jobs. Can't have it both ways.

When oil hits $60 a barrel, it becomes profitable to pump and drill in the shale oil reserves, and Opec doesn't want that.

I've never seen the term "endless oil reserves" because such a term doesn't exist. How long it will last no one knows.

Someone mentioned answering to the stockholders. Who are the stockholders? People on this forum with mutual funds and 401Ks.

Greedy corporations equal stockholders, shareholders, mutual fund and 401K holders. Everyone is in on the game.

Mexico is part of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), a Latin American free trade deal, and a deal with the EU which means its import duties to Europe will drop from 10% (made in USA) to 0% (made in Mexico).

The decision isn’t all about import taxes or duties; FCA and Ford are both moving all possible car production outside the United States in search of higher margins. At the same time, newspaper recounts claim that the government has actively kept wages down — contrary to the intent of NAFTA — so workers still get paid relatively little.

As long as fuel prices stay low, the United States and Canada will still have assembly jobs: the small and medium size cars are moving out, but crossovers and pickups are taking up the slack, at least for now.

FCA will abandon the Dart and the 200. Sergio was quoted as saying just that unless he finds a partner to build them and as of now he has not. And won't.

GM has decided to move their full size truck assembly from Mexico to the states and to move some small car to that mexico plant in return.

Sergio has already thrown the Dart and the 200 under the bus and these two cars were designed on his watch. I think FCA has bigger problems than to worry what Ford is doing.
