Jack Switch?

2008 Lance 845, has a on-off button for activating jack remote.

Push rocker switch, it lights up then shuts off. If I hold the button in for a few seconds it stays lit, but when I release it, shuts off.

If I hold it in AND push the operate jacks buttons on remote at the same time, once the jack begins down or up, the light stays lit, and will remain working properly for the duration of up or down.

After turning rocker switch off manually - that same cycle start over. Hold it in, it works, release rocker, it goes dark and won't operate.

Battery up, happens with truck running or not running same way. Have no power in storage, so can't check with 110v.

I'm thinking new switch, but not certain. Anyone advise?? Thanks M44
  • Maybe not the actual rocker switch but there is circuitry that times out after you engage the switch. Sounds like this feature is gone.
  • I was hoping switch, as it's easier to repair. But, also thought short which is sometimes more difficult ... now betting that's it, unfortunately. Out comes the 'short light' :(
  • I think it is much more likely that you have an open rather than a short. A short would blow fuses. If you can consult with the manufacture of that jack system they might be able to answer your question. Or take a chance And just replace the switch and see what happens. I don’t like troubleshooting by just replacing parts but sometimes it might be the best way.
The way you describe how it is supposed to work brings to mind that there might be a relay in the circuit that sets when you initially push the rocker switch and that latches the circuit in until the operation is complete. Without a schematic Or some advice from the builder it’s kind of a shot in the dark.
