Jayco SLX 212QBW or Lance 1985

The wife and I are looking to purchase a travel trailer, tent camping works for me but not her. We are planning on weekend camping, take off after work on Friday, come home on Sunday. Just us and two dogs, a mini Australian shepherd and a Rhodesian ridgeback.

We live in Central Washington and two that have caught our eyes are the above model. On the Lance we would go with the sofa/bed option if that matters. The Lance with the slide out and sofa/bed option opens up the living space when not sleeping but we are debating the cost factor. Yes I know you can often get what you pay for but we want to hear what others think of if going for the Lance is worth the extra cost of the Jayco if we like the lay out of both.

One thing I want to add is this will be a long term ownership. We have zero plans to upgrade down the and would like this to be something we can rely on for the next 15-20 years.

Your input is welcomed.

Thanks
  • I cannot speak to the Lance product, but as a Jayco owner for 5 years now we're very happy with it.
  • I too would give the Lance the nod toward slightly higher grade of craftsmanship. I would say the Jayco is on the upper edge of the finer quality trailers. I just think Lance is a half a step higher and if you are planning to keep it 20 years(Like I do)then you will have a better chance of keeping it on track.
  • I agree, big part is on the owner to take of things, can't ignore stuff and expect it to last.
  • Both are good, but I'd say Lance is the choice if I was going to bet on which one lasts the longest. Assuming good maintenance and keeping in mind any manufactured product can have issues.
