Jeep Grand Cherokee

We are in the process of trading in our 32 foot MH and buying a 22 foot Airstream Sport trailer. The GVWR of the trailer is 4500 pounds. The unloaded weight is 3634 pounds with propane and battery. The unloaded tongue weight is 393 pounds with propane and battery.

We are planning on getting a Jeep Grand Cherokee with a V8 engine and the tow package to tow it with. That combination is rated to tow 6800 pounds per the Jeep website.

Are there any gotcha's we need to be aware of? We will have a WD hitch, sway control, and a brake controller.

TIA,

Bobbo

The Ecodiesel would be a great engine for towing- if you could buy one. As far as I know the 2017 models have not yet been EPA certified for sale.

The jeep will tow that just fine..I believe the V8 towing capacity is 7200 lbs and the V6 is 6800. Ignore the people who think you can only tow anything with a truck!

Tow limit on the Eco diesel is 7,200 pounds. You can also get 4 bag air suspension on some models. I have been told this is nice for towing.

Plus one with the ecodiesel - I have one & it's a great vehicle. Comfortable, tows great, economical, etc. I have an Overland with quadra-lift & the combination of WDH makes towing grat.

I know you didn't ask but for me I'd be looking at a Ford F-150 with ecoboost 3.6 for that. More flexible with the bed and better pulling on passes. Longer wheelbase means smoother tow.

I had a TT with a 5000 GVWR that I towed thousands of miles with a V6 Grand Cherokee with no problems. I used an Equalizer WD system and it towed like a dream.

Seems like a good combo to me! Spend a couple hours learning how to adjust the WDH and enjoy!
