Kerrville Rally. First timer response and observations however limited. Met up with folks from Kansas we'd been visiting with privately who are actually the only reason we actually attended. We met up at Proctor Lake in Texas on the way down and spent Wednesday night there. Decent little place but don't use the water, with or without filter, it's the nastiest we've ever smelled let alone tasted. Used our onboard water after first sniff/taste.
onward to Kerrville via Stevensville, Texas and the GPS foul up that had us both taking a detour no longer needed. Another one on our part had us coming back onto the highway just as they wizzed past and the pursuit was on to stay close and follow the leader to camp. We weren't able to set up close to each other but that only facilitated meeting more new people. Kodiak camper folks next to us were neat people with the camper we'd have recycled or not if we needed another one. Thought the Alaskan pop up super interesting as was the flatbed mounted gianormous Lance that pulled in later on the other side with a couple cute youngsters, one theirs and one bait to get theirs to come along and be happy. Seemed like everyone had a dog or dogs and we were no exception with our 3, yes three. Didn't get to do much touring or Tech Talks, just coffee and meals and walk the dogs as DH had a severe and totally unexpected arthritis attack to his shoulder that stopped him in his tracks. His pain, my agony and frustration. Did participate in the chili cook off and was totally shocked to win the No Beans class! That wooden spoon will have a place of honor above the door in the camper. Dogs made new friends as well and our friends little pup learned how to be a dog running, playing and chewing bones together. All in all a nice trip, decent weather not being too hot or cold and some rain but not enough to interfere with the festivities much. The facility was really nice. We stopped off at Mineral Wells Lake for the overnight before heading on home with me driving all the way to save more misery for my hubby. Our new friends stopped over here on their way back to Kansas and we put them and their rig in our barn along with ours as a precaution against hail that never materialized. All in all a great time and new fast friends planning a few new dual adventures in the future. Ya shoulda been there!
