knotty problem

In my Jayco 17C I have a knotty problem. The gremlins have struck, my electrical cord has become knotted inside the cord compartment somehow? I have taken the plastic access door off but there is not enough room to access the cord. I checked behind the converter but no access.

Anyone have ideas how to undo this mess or to access the area.
Thanks
Rick

Jayco puts a knot in their cords by design so you don't pull them out to far.

  • You might try twisting the cord to the left a couple of turns and jerking in and out and then to the right a few turns and repeat.

I've fought this numerous times and somehow managed to get it untangled. I've removed the cover and been able to pull it out far enough to get to the tangle, but as you say there is no room to really do much.I like the idea of installing a marine plug and storing the cord in a bay.
  • When you do get it out, cut it off and add a male end. Add a female end to the remaining cord and don't store it in the "mouse hole" anymore.
  • On my ROO if I take the trim and every thing off there is plenty of room to access the wiring. In fact the plug on the trailer seized to the cord and had to just that very thing. I had plenty of room to get the internal wires and install a new plug.
