Lance 1181 on old Dodge dually??

Keep in mind the actual physical capacity of components and systems does not matter given the plastic door sticker's ability to alter the molecular structure of the materials...

I'm sure there are Lance 1181s on older DRWs. What is your stated capacity?

I Have ah 1181 on a Chevy dually. No matter what you do to your truck a single won't cut it. Mine runs between 5000 and 5500 that's a minimum of 2.5 tons. Good luck!!!

Not a TC, but I packed 6k worth of gravel in the back of an '01 Dodge (4wd quad cab dually with factory springs and rear sway bar). Scaled 14.5k with 2 people in it. Was under tire rating.

That was only once, but the rear would need help with that (near that) amount of weight if I were to make a habit of that.

Your Dodge is every bit as stout as the new pickups, it's got a Dana 80, it's just the single rear wheel configuration that is lacking in both stability and capacity.

But the subject says "on an old dodge dually". I think he was just using the SRW as an example.

Yeah I just re-read that.... nevermind, your truck can do it. I have a '99 Dodge 4x4 dually myself and I carry a whole lot more!
So about hauling a camper with it...
The only weak link on the old Dodge is the stock automatic transmission.
Properly built, it can be one of the strongest transmissions available... but until you do a proper high-performance build, it's gonna be your limiting factor.
You also want a better-than-stock fuel lift pump (highly recommend Fass) and a fuel pressure gauge. It's extremely important to always know you have over 10 psi so your injector pump stays cool and doesn't starve. And do your injector pump another big favor by adding a quart of two-cycle oil when you fill up on fuel. It's better and cheaper than most of the additives on the market.

Didn't dodge switch them all over to in tank pumps? I thought that the problem was the lift on the suction side and the intank pump solved this?

You are correct, they did do an in-tank pump retrofit for that reason - but it was just as bad!
There are now very good aftermarket pumps, usually frame mounted, that completely resolve the old
Dodge lift-pump issue. Those are the hot setup now. Plus fuel filter changes are an easy no-mess deal now; just slide a bucket under and unscrew it. The original setup is on the side of the motor and filter changes were a mess.

One benefit to running a truck that's been around a while (and popular) is all the design issues have been discovered and sorted out.

The biggest issue I see would be the brakes which where minimal in the 99's even at the factory GVWR. The newer trucks have much better brakes and exhaust brake for long hills.
