Lance TT question

Does anyone know if Lance makes TT that does not have that tall step in the slide-out.
I looked at a couple and the step is quite significant ....otherwise nice TT
Thanks
  • At this point, no (afaik)

I don't work for them or anything but as a consumer, I'm not aware of any lower slideout as it's part of their overall design.

It's an actually very nice feature once you get used to it.

  • There are other trailer manufacturers that have that step up slide.

They all use TorFlex type axles that can be mounted close to the frame (usually a light weight BAL/Norco frame) 'cause there's no spring and shackle suspension. Just the torsion bar that is outside, not under, the frame.

As a result the wheels stick up into the cabin, and the trailers tend to have lower ground clearance than spring and shackle trailers. Mounting the TorFlex axle that close to the frame is not absolutely necessary though, and lift kits exist to improve ground clearance. They don't remove the slide step up though.:)
  • Thanks burlaz for adding that technical information! Even I learned something!

  • Lance has a good reputation and seems to build a decent product. However the step up slide out would be a dealbreaker for me. I would also be concerned about limited ground clearance, generally another deal breaker for me as well.
  • Lance makes nice rigs..But, having had both step up slide and flat floor slide rigs - for us it was a biggie on our list. Much prefer flat floor slide with wheels and wells outside/under the main box.

Agreed. We rented a Lance 1685 for several weeks last year and my wife didnt enjoy climbing up into the slide dinette. The flat floor slide in our current trailer is a lot easier for her to get into.

I believe they have the raised slides because the trailers sit lower and must allow for the wheel wells. Our trailer is higher, which I generally don't like, but one benefit is the flat floor slide over the wheels. When the slide goes out it actually drops down a few inches and is nearly level ( maybe 1/4" higher) with the rest of the floor.
