Leaking toilet

A couple months ago I noticed a leak on the toilet which I thought was coming from the supply line pipe where it went into the fitting on the toilet. I replaced the fitting with a slip-on type fitting (I can't recall the correct name...maybe shark bite or something like that)and it seemed to fix the problem. Today I noticed the leak again and now I am thinking maybe it is coming from somewhere else on the toilet. Or, maybe I messed up when I replaced the fitting. The toilet is a Thetford with a two-position foot pedal. Push the pedal all the way down and the toilet flushes. Push the pedal about halfway down and it fills the toilet. Could the leak be at the toilet fitting itself and the water is simply flowing down the pipe and making it appear to be the pipe fitting? If so, how do I go about replacing that. Thanks in advance.
  • Got this fixed this morning. The fitting wasn't completely seated. At least I won't have to remove the toilet. Thanks to everyone for their help.
  • If you haven't used PEX push on fittings before, it's easy to push one on part way and think it is all the way on. You might check to see if the fitting is completely seated.
  • Thanks for both replies. After I posted I decided to do a bit of research on the Thetford site. The leak may yet be coming from the fitting and not the valve. No water leaks when I flush. After a few hours of non-use the water accumulates (I placed a container below the fitting). So, I may have messed up the fitting installation. I don't have time to mess with this right now and I have a large enough container to handle a few days of accumulation. When I do get to it I will replace the fitting again and this time I will be extra cautious doing so. If that doesn't work I will replace the valve. The Thetford site had a good tutorial on how to replace that. Thanks again for the advice. I will post when I have fixed this issue.
  • Had a similar problem on my Thetford toilet. Had to replace the water valve. Check your toilet model number. There are different valves for different models.
