Different locations, climates, frequency of use, etc all make a difference. The first year we had our Rockwood, I left the camper in the driveway with 10 gallons of water during August. I had to drain, bleach and flush the plumbing within 2 weeks as it was turning green.
Our camper now sits inside our 36'x45' shop out of the elements. I keep water in the tank and use the RV as my 1/4 bathroom when I'm out there working. No issues with the water now, however, we don't drink from the tap when camping.
