Lightest weight slide out camper for my '97 Dodge DRW D80 ?

I'm at the point in my mid life to selling most of all my toys for a bigger camper with slides, but my Truck is a '97 Dodge 3500 manual trans & 4x4 that gives me the heavier Dana 80 rear end & etc...

Yet don't want to swap to a trailer or full RV.

I've started to fall in love with a Lance 1131.... is this likely my best choice?
Its just my wife & I with my 100 lb dog & yet I'd like to tow toys behind so weight is always an issue.
I know many that just go for it & don't ask questions.

But I'm more concerned being a Class A Truck driver for a living.
1997 Dodge 4x4, 5 spd manual trans & HotRod 5.9 cummins.
With '85 Lance.

I think with all of the new slide out campers, figure a 10' will be around 4500-5000 lbs loaded and a 11 1/2' will be about 500 lbs more.
This number is from the Lance 981 and 1191 I had and weighed on a CAT scale.
Of course the new triple slides will put you well over 6k lbs.
For a great shorter (9-10') take a look at the Lance 981 or 992.
The 1131 is nice and if you don't need the rear fold down tent, the 1191 is the same layout.
I think you will be ok on your truck if you don't add a lot of tongue weight when towing.

If you have looked at and like the Lance 1131 it should be fine on a 1 ton Dually. As far as towing that depends on what you are towing.

Don't recall any 8' canvas camper with slides?
I own Lance 1161 what is twin brother to 1131 and love the side entrance.
Rear entrance campers will offer more storage, while basement models will allow you taking some gear with you, but that is something you have to decide.
The best start in TC comparing - seat on the toilet to see how comfortable you are and try to fit in shower with curtain closed.
Once you are comfortable on those 2, the rest is just details and cosmetics ๐Ÿ˜‰

The lightest weight TC is going to be the smallest one. Do you really want the lightest / smallest camper you can get?

If so, an 8' crank up camper with canvas walls will fit the bill. You can even fit a TC for a short bed truck into your truck.
