I didn't like my 7.3 PSD. Really loud.
I sometimes drove a 7.3 for work. After about an hour the clatter hurt my ears. Very annoying.
My dad has a 2000 7.3. Great truck but it rides like a dump truck and it's hard to carry on a conversation in it.
Come on, stop knocking one of the best and most dependable diesel engines ever made! :B
It is quite loud around town but I'm use to it. But on the highway while towing the trailer she just purrs along..
;)
The 7.3 trucks do ride rough due to leaf spring front suspension, but the coil spring setup on todays Super Duty's ride so much better.
BTW... You can add the 7.3 PSD to one of the best sounding diesels to date. Also this thread reminds me of a friend of mine who still has his 96 F250 7.3PSD (only used on special occasions)and having a conversation when going down the road was a bit tough.
I had two 7.3s, an Excursion and an E350. Neither one was very loud in the cab and you were sitting right next to the engine in the E350. There was a little bit of diesel clatter when idling or at slow speeds, but once I got over 15 miles per hour, there was more wind noise than engine noise.

The later 7.3's that were in the Super Duty's were a bit quitter than the OBS trucks.
