Looking at the Grand Design construction, they have R40 in the roof (excellent), R30 in the floor (excellent ), but R7 walls (mediocre ), and no mention of dual-pane windows. Why only R7 walls? Are the walls only 1.5"?
All they have for insulation in the floor is thin white foam board and the ceiling is batt insulation and a layer of Radiant Foil over both. From what I've read about the foil is that it needs an air space to work. There's no way to get an air space the way they install it.
It seems that most RV MFG do it that way. Not really sure how they think it's supposed to work and give 30-45 R values.
Maybe there's some insulation experts on here that can explain the process.
