There are some good options listed. I guess I should have posted that I know it will be hot, and that's not a big concern. When you live in Texas your entire life you get used to it.

Lake Quachita area in AR?? There are several SPs and, I believe, some COE. They fill up pretty quickly, so you'll need to get on it. It's not far from Hot Springs, so a day trip might be something you'd like. Wooded, so some shade to be had, all sorts of water activities. A few degrees cooler than DFW.

How about Queen Wilhelmina State Park Arkansas? Not much cooler than Texas right now. Or Talimena State Park OKlahoma.

Any place in Texas or within 200 miles of Dallas will be pretty hot.

We always take a day and a half and travel to Colorado. Or you could try the mountains in New Mexico around Ruidoso.

Inks Lake is nice but...again...it will be HOT.
