Loose roof membrane

Hello all, we just purchased this 2006 jayco jayflight 29ft. We took it on our first trip this past weekend. On the way back to storage the wife said it looks like a tarp is flapping on the roof. Ended up being the membrane. It looks still all sealed at the top. But it looks like it is getting air from somewhere. It's this membrane glues down or just stretched tight and sealed on the edges. My problem is we are going on a 2 week trip to CO WY and UT. Let me know if this is a major problem or an easy DIY fix.

although I certainly agree , is this like the old vinyl car roofs that had the bubble on top due to a vacuum being pulled while moving on the highway?

My rubber roof membrane started failing after 5 1/2 years service, I full time. Now if you are a weekend camper and your rig sits under a roof most of the time I guess rubber might be ok, but for me NO MORE RUBBER ROOF EVER.

I had mine replaced with RV Flex Armor, rvroof.com, and the difference is amazing. Obviously no more leaks through the membrane, but the sound silencing is amazing as well. I can actually hear my television when it is raining. My RV Flex Armor was installed in January 2016 and this is my first summer with it. I host in Panama City, FL and the difference in how my a/c's work is amazing as well. The RV Flex Armor coating is 3/16" thick and the extra insulation allows my a/c's to actually cycle on/off during the hot summer afternoons in direct sunlight and 90 degrees.

If I were going to buy a new RV right now, which I'm not, I would have the RV Flex Armor installed before I ever moved in and would consider this extra cost just part of the price of a new rig. Yes, I would spray over a brand new rubber roof and all of the caulking required to keep it from leaking.

I do not work for or have any interest in RV Flex Armor other than being a completely satisfied customer.

I have some buckled siding on the front of the trailer from where I had a little misshap with my truck Hydroplaning and jackknifing the truck and trailer on the highway this past weekend. Its really not that bad but I'm wondering if air is going up the front of the trailer between the siding and wood and going up to the roof. I would think that membrane should be sealed tight at the top edge of the roof. But this is my first camper to own so I don't know how that area is attached

Now I see it. That's ugly but you dont know until you get into it.

This is certainly not normal! Folds and creases showing on front of roof! Looks to me like it needs to be lifted and re-glued before it tears! I would not travel too far with it the way it looks.

It's supposed to be glued down tight. It would seem that it has a piece of loose trim and dicor if it's letting that much air in. The ugly answer is remove everything and re glue the whole thing. You need to look at the overall codition of the epdm to see if it's worth saving. But you also dont know if water has gotten I and damaged the wood. My sons trailer had a small leak near the AC unit. It needed less than a sheet of plywood to patch it. He had gotten $5,000 price to do the new membrane and replace any wood and a $3,500 price if they removed the front trim and cut the membrane back to the ac. He chose option 3 and we cut it ourselves and patched in the plywood, glued down the epdm and stapled the seams and dicored it. It's been over 2 years and everything is fine. It's a half A way to do it but he's getting rid of it or parking it at a hunt camp. Seems like you have a big job or big bucks OR cobble for the time being. If I was keeping the rig and going to put a new membrane on later, I'd be putting a zillion staples and dicor on it if it meant going on vacation. Dicor. Eternabond tape. Staples. Strips of something stapled down and dicored. Anything just so it's water tight, not loose and I get to go on vacation. I could then strip it when the party is over.
