Alpha Ply roof membrane

Just a heads up for those of you with Alpha Ply. My service guy came today to replace the wiper seals on two slide outs. When he remove the wiper (the rubber was soft and gooey), the alpha ply roof on the slide out was bubbled up along where the rubber was laying on it. There were actually a couple holes in it. They had to clean and install a 4" strip of Eternabond tape on both slides. The other two slide wipers were fine. The roof membrane under the wipers was fine. The service man believed there was some sort of chemical reaction between the rotten rubber and the alpha ply membrane. I do know one thing.......with the torrential rains we've been getting, I don't know how it hasn't leaked.
  • My 5'er had a failure of the Alpha EPDM roof this past December after 5 1/2 years service. The membrane had an alligator skin look where condensation from my 2 a/c's was dripping on it. Alpha Systems said he was "normal aging" and not to worry about it. It may have been normal aging, but moisture was leaking through it. Fortunately I caught it so the only damage was to the luan material right under the roof membrane.

My solution was RV Flex Armor. Problem solved and no more rubber roof or caulking to worry about.
