I agree with everyone else - there is something very funny going on. I have never EVER bought a vehicle off the lot (since 1973). Have always ordered them to my specs and never had problems, the lone exception being the Cosworth Vega that took much longer to build then expected. You would be surprised at some of the nice little options that are available, but not normally ordered by dealers - just play the 'build it' game on any manufacturer's website and you'll see.

Ordered my Ford truck last year and the dealer sent the VIN to me within just a few weeks. So I would call your dealer and ask for that info first. If they cannot provide it, I would bet the truck was never built, for whatever reason.

My Ram took 5 1/2 months from order to delivery. It was worth the wait.

My 2012 F250 came in on time and it had exactly the stuff on it that I wanted.

There was nothing "special" about, except maybe the 2X4.

Your stealer is jerking you around. And the Ford guy you called was probably just covering the dealer's behiney.

Contacted ford They gave me to a guy named Colin. Even he doesn't know where it is. Said something about the weather and Norfolk and southern rail. But I don't think that's the problem. From Kentucky to Ma. then to Maine. Heard of that excuse before from other products. Who knows. May cancel soon. Another snow coming wed.

Dealer is definitely not being honest. You couldn't order a 2014 in January 2014. Orders were closed by then. You could order a 2015.

A recent post on FTE quoted here:

"01-15-2014 Dealers were ok to start ordering 2015 F250/350

02-13-2014 FORD was starting the production scheduling of 2015 F250/350

03-17-2014 FORD anticipated actual production of F250/350 trucks would begin"

So if your dealer actually ordered something for you, it would have not been built until at least March 17. I would bet the F450 dates are even more restricted than the above, since production numbers are so much lower.

Good news is, you'll have so much better truck than any Ram, it will be well worth the wait. But you need to have a face to face with your dealer.

BTW, you should be able to contact Ford's customer service and tell them what the dealer told you and they can check to see if it's BS.

X2, common tactic with some dealers. Your truck is not "lost". Get your deposit back and take your business elsewhere.

I can't imagine Ford would lose a vehicle but I guess anything is possible. I know exactly where mine is: it's in a bunch of pieces waiting to be put together.

I'm not sure why the auto makers don't allow a customer the ability to track an order. There was a while that you could track GM orders but they pulled the plug on it. I can track any orders I get from Amazon for items that cost just a bare fraction of the cost of the truck I'm getting. It's kind of like it is a big secret. I can ask my dealer and he will look at the status but I hate to bug him. There are times when things get delayed because of supplier problems and I kind of think that is where mine is but I don't know for sure.

Somebody offered more for that truck than you did, so they sold it. Or a friend of the owners got it for invoice. Just my guess after 40 years of watching sales BS at dealerships from the inside.

Ordered two vehicles brand new.

A 1977 Ford F 250 and a 2003 Chevy 3500 dually Duramax.

Both came in as scheduled and only got lost once I got behind the wheel. :B
