I sure do see a lot more 05-07 Fords than 05-09 RAMs or Chevy's of all years DMax years.
Which means what?
Which means Fish took a thread on the Ford 6.0 Powerstroke and tried to take an opportunity to do a quick slam on Ram trucks (and even Chevys, too). Business as usual.
Not a slam... but just presenting local observations.
I didn't see any responses from you on the party poopers... :W
The real observation would be to pop the hoods on these trucks or talk to the original owners. Just because it's on the road don't mean it's been trouble free. I have found through work that most of the 6.0's that I have personally went and looked at physically either had been deleted and or bullet proofed or had head gaskets blown sitting on the lot to be bought.
This is not a slam and I could care less how many of which brand is here or there but I do know I just dropped 10,000$ in on a long block for my service truck @ 175,000 miles just to keep it on the road.
Just remember that when you see a 6.0 don't mean it's been a great no problem truck. I know they are out there but the majority of the 6.0 on the road has been bought and paid for in a lot of cases twice.
OP, I am very happy that you have had great luck with you truck and please don't take this as a slam on you or your truck.:W
Again I disagree and you are so wrong... If people had to throw down a bunch of $$$ to keep their truck on the road, believe me it would be gone just like I kicked the RAM cummins to the curb because it was always something going wrong so off it went. I didn't have time for that non sense. :R
Just like the fishing guides around here that ran Opti Pop's. Power head blew and had to be towed in. Next time out that boat had a different outboard hanging on the back. I don't even see fishing guides running Opti Pop's here on the coast hardly anymore so yes seeing a product this in use goes a long ways in customer satisfaction.
Please don't take this as a slam but it is what it is. :W
Believe or not, most people won't throw a truck to the garbage because of a head gasket or injector or even a turbo. Heck, most true Blue Bleeding Ford guys will buy another one in a heartbeat. I know a lot of them. I would say that a lot of the 6.0's on the road a second owners and most of them are guys that know how to work on them. If they are not as bad as we all say then why do they go for thousands less than the other two of the big three but when they were new they were more expensive? I'll tell you why, because people know and they know somehow besides this little ole slice of the web.
You can pick at what I own all you want. I know what I own and and anytime you want to bring your little Ford around I'll be more than happy to show you what my little tractor engine does.
As far as the guides go, the Optimax is not a motor to have if you want to idle around and look at a TV screen. They are made to fire up, warm up and run. If I wanted to idle around I'll just get a diesel. Heck, I'd mount a 6.0 on the back of my boat before a Hammer or E-rude. I't would be faster:B
These fishing guides don't idle around, but rather make 35-50 mile runs to a fishing spot. A lot of those miles is running down the intercoastal where they can really open them up. Time after time the Opti Pops just blow power heads many miles from the harbor and have to be towed in and the guide looses $600 - $800/day pay dirt and tell their customer to reschedule for another day. These guides have to have a reliable boat/motor and they will not continue to rebuild a power head and hope the next one will be better. It just doesn't happen.
