Mobile repair vs Dealers?

I decided to start a new thread, just so it gets read faster. for those reading my issues with my slide trim and my OCD going in full effect, i have decided to let my dealer fix the bottom trim this way i know its done and done right.. I also have a local mobile rv repair guy that will come over my house and give a free estimate. I am assuming that they will be cheaper then bringing the camper to a dealer.
Are the mobile guys in business usually just as good as dealers techs? when I called his office his wife advised me that he used to work for this dealer where my camper is going and decided to go in business for himself.. unfortuntly, its hard to research his work...no websites at all... anyways, am i better off with mobile repair?

I would use a mobile guy but there are none in my area. I have a local dealer that I trust do my work.

I would only use a private mobile repair service or an independent repair shop. I have used mobile service a few times and seen them in operation many times during our winter snowbirding months. They are very competent, fairly priced, and usually prompt with service.

I used the dealer for our warranty repairs when we purchased our fiver fifteen years ago. After that I did all of the repair work for several years. Now that I am in my late 70's and am not so handy crawling up ladders, walking on the roof or sliding into tight places I rely on our mobile repair man who is very good and fair in pricing. If your are in the Tampa Bay area and need an rv repair man, send me a private message and I will tell you how to contact him.

Most of the time with the mobile guy, your repair is done on the spot (unless parts have to be ordered) You unit is not sitting on a dealers lot waiting for them to fit it in at their convenience

While not a Mobil guy I use a independent shop that does RV repair and I trust them.

I got fed up with dealers promising the work by a certain day/time and not getting it done!

For the past 5 years, I have used a great mobile repair man who is reliable, trustworthy, efficient, and a nice man. He shows up on time, gets it done, and doesn't charge high rates like dealers.

Using him also saves me having to drive 60 miles roundtrip to a dealership two times per problem.

I found my mobile guy because he was the one doing the PDI on TT that was being sold on consignment. The dealer in my case is just that, he does not have a repair shop.

Since then I've found out he does warranty work for at least 2 manufacturers. I see that as a good sign.

My biggest challenge to date is to get him firmly scheduled when I need him. He's busy and my jobs are normally small, plus I live just 2 miles from him. So I'm usually on his "one last thing for the day" list.

I use my mobile tech for 90+% of repairs or mods. Heavy work for slides or suspension force me to the dealer.

He is coming to the house next week to install a new HD roof mount satellite dish.

Mobile guy coming tomorrow. Says should take 30 minutes to fix at most. Now I just hope he uses the correct sealant/butyl tape. Haha

I really like my dealer, he sold me a great trailer at a good price... however I have any work done by a mobile repair guy.. He has a nice shop and although he will come to me, I have always taken the trailer to his shop for work..

These independent RV repairman is generally going to do as good if not better work and normally it's faster as well..

Also with a mobile guy, you can stand right there and watch him work. You can ask questions, learn and immediately inspect what kind of job he is doing...

Often with a dealer, customers are not allowed inside the shop so you really have no control over what and how it is being done.
