- keymastrExplorerStandard equipment on Outdoors RV trailers and they offer the upgrade that includes the wet bolt shackles as well.
- lucy6194ExplorerHubby just did upgrade after second broken spring. Upgrade spring weight also. Traveling now and pleased.
- lucy6194ExplorerWe did wet bolt upgrade also.no change in towing a little more up and down movement to camper up then we also added heavier springs.
- TequilaExplorerLast year, in Mexico, my shackles broke. I had just finished driving down a steep mountain highway. Scary. See http://www.mexicocaravan.com/suspension.html for photos.Note how teh other side was also about ready to give way. My trailer travel about 5000 miles a year in Mexico. Mexico is full of Topes which are highway speed bumps, so the shackles get more of a work out than normal. I was fortunate in that my wife was back at hime & flying down. She hauled a 40 lb MorRyde kit on the plane with her and I replaced it in an RV Park with the help of a few others on our caravan. It was a worthwhile mod. I can't see them wearing again and they are lubricated, not metal on metal.
When I replaced my tires this summer I noticed the one nearest teh broken part was worn uneven. God knows how long I had been towing it with it broken.
