- SoCalDesertRid1ExplorerI think it's a good thing. :) I'd like to see natural gas, either CNG or LNG, become our primary national fuel for autos, trucks, busses, etc, rather than gasoline.
- maxwell11Explorermy son works for a natural gas company in Conway, AR
they run most of their cars and smaller trucks on natural gas.
they have bought 4 or 5 local (old out of business gas stations) and converted them into natural gas fueling stations.
the trucks will run about 300 miles on a tank of natural gas, then you just flip a switch and it run on gasoline, at this point its seamless,
but more and more fuel stations are being installed and we have plenty of natural gas
there may be some draw backs, but its our fuel and we have plenty of it, not having to transport the oil to make the gas from around the world and buy it from people who hate us.
electric vehicles have draw backs too, it takes lots of fuel and equipment to make the electricity.
as time goes on the natural gas conversions will become less expensive and more stations will be built to supply the demand.
in my area of west ky, we do not have any natural gas fueling stations, but in time guess we will have one.
his company gave away 33 new natural gas vehicles to employees last year, - JamesBrExplorerEven the Quarrels fuel network has started to add these too their stations. At least two of the locations I refuel at have them now.
- midnightsadieExplorer IIin canton ohio a big truck dealer is puting cng tanks in, the new 18teen wheelers being built will be cng powered diesels.
- OkieGeneExplorerIn Oklahoma City natural gas refueling stations are averaging about $1.15 a gallon for CNG. There are many new locations coming online. A friend of mine bought a new Honda Civic CNG car and it has been awesome.

Price varies wildly.......The average cost in the US for a "gallon" of CNG yesterday was $2.08. Some places had it as cheap as $0.60 per gallon!......Source . Price in our area is $1.49/galThe huge advantage is the cost is currently running only about $2 - $2.50 per gallon.
What? :h
Lets do a little math.
LNG has 64% of the energy of gasoline (let alone #2 diesel).
So lets take $3.50 a gallon of gasoline in Ca. 64x3.50=$2.24 a gallon. So the "huge" savings is gone. Nothing left. - LessmoreExplorer IIThey are thinking of installing some natural gas fuel stations between my province and Chicago. Idea being convert class 8 trucks from one big trucker up here to fuel company semis when they travel between Chicago and my city. With the volume they would use, plan is to save fuel costs.
Bill Shakespeare used to use that literary device...the aside...and I will too.
Here goes.
Just to mention and not to get into a gas issue...but with all the gas and oil in Alberta and then the Bakken oil reserve which covers areas in Saskatchewan, Montana, North Dakota and Manitoba. I think we have more than enough gas/oil to keep North America, going for years and years.
Of course the price is inflated way over what it should be for gas and diesel...IMO...but I don't want to go there. - Turtle_n_PeepsExplorer

- thomasmnileExplorerAbout 20 years ago my former govt. employer spent $400K on a CNG fueling facility at its main fleet maintenance shop. The county mayor proclaimed this was the "future" and extolled the virtues of all the money to be saved with CNG vehicles.
They bought about 6 CNG fueled F150's and a couple of CNG powered cars as a test. Fast forward to the present, the CNG fueling facility stands unused, the "test fleet" long gone.
