Almost home from our trip, sitting in Billings Montana right now. So we go shopping and the wife falls in love with a new toyhauler fifth wheel. We've discussed getting one before.....but she likes the big one. So I went dually shopping. Two F350 duallies in town at decent prices. One 2013 ram, but it's a megacab dually. But I did find a loaded longhorn 4x4, crew cab dually, 2012 model. Beautiful truck, but the GVWR is 12,300. The toyhauler GVWR is 19,000. Anyone towing similar with one of these duallys. I would really like to be back in a ram, just need a little push.

Push yourself right into that '13, better emissions with scr and def, and way more payload and towing. Youll likely love yourself next time you tow your new TH.

I love my 2012, but I would look for a 2013. The changes are worth the extra $$.

But the silver 2012 longhorn is so pretty....LOL. I guess another downside to the 12 is that it has a dealer installed B&W turnover ball......the companion is only rated for 18k. Or can you have a turnover ball and install a separate 5th wheel hitch as well?

Dang you missed that Kellogg Idaho off ramp :B I think they have over a hundred 2013's on the lot finally. I would think your new TH comes with 3 axles so maybe it's pin weight isn't all that high. Heck 12,300 GVWR would handle most all RV's and if you go by RAWR :W that 2012 Mega cab dually can handle about 6k lbs of weight. Just me but I'd buy the newer MY just for resale reasons alone... Not sure if you could pay no sales tax in a Idaho transfer though. I seem to remember when I bought mine way back when, I paid no tax until I registered it in Cali :E and had to pay Cali sales tax percentage. Montana is ZERO I believe which is quite the savings.

get the 13 ram find a dually 8 ft bed crew you be set.

Since us three all live close we could meet at Lake Chelan and Jim could put some miles on the 13 and meet us.

I have run the truck through several tanks of fuel being I have over 10K on it, but with out resetting, it usually is in the 16s average unless I've had a lot of intown driving. Reguardless, just listing what it does, as with any calculation there is room for erorr. I'm happy with it so I guess thats all that matters. :)

Great Jim, come on over since you have the new truck. Ahh the Cascade mountain range is well worth it, after the Northern Rockies and a few other mountain passes. Beef, Chicken, or Vegan :E We have some pretty good Salmon in these parts. But I won't "harp on it" :B

BTW these newer trucks, the lie o meter are very close on their fuel numbers. I've checked mine and its within .1 of actual mileage.

I've checked my "lie-o-meter" against hand calculations several times and it is also within .1 to .15 mpg of the hand calculation. I did have the computer reset for the exact tire size I'm running and I zero the so called "lie-o-meter" whenever I fill the tank.
