Need Power awning help!

My 2014 Keystone Hideout has serious power awning troubles. It all started the end of last season, when a wind storm woke me up, and as I begin putting the power awning in, it began making crazy noises when rolling. It got worse over the next few campouts, until it finally wouldn't extend out or in anymore.
So, I ordered a new motor for it. Installed today, and wasn't working still. I took the housing off, and gears were not wanting to turn like they should. Starting working the gears as it felt like they were seized up, and bam, one of the gears crumbles, and falls apart in my hand.
So, at this point, maybe my motor wasn't bad after all? Maybe it was just my gears got screwed up from the one evening in the windstorm.
All the info I have in it is that it has a "LCI" stamped across the housing box on the awning.
Searching around on Amazon, I found this, and appears its the same assembly I am looking for.
https://www.amazon.com/Lippert-Components-273478-Solera-Assembly/dp/B00PXLVYKQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1500235701&sr=8-1&keywords=Solera%C2%AE+Power+Awning+Plain+Drive+Head+Assembly+-+Black
Anyone have a better place to buy the housing assembly? How do I know this is the exact one that will fit mine? No serial numbers or anything.
  • Soundguy has provided the best response. Lippert has a fairly good online presence; you just gotta dig for the info.

I'd suggest you first download a copy of the Lippert Master Owner's Manual and read through the section covering your Solera awning, starting on Page 148. Next, rather than rely on forum WAGs contact Lippert Customer Service.
  • Are you sure it's the motor making the noise? Ours makes a loud groaning noise but it's because of the rollers sliding up the side, and uneven pressure on the arms as they open and close, thanks to incompetent installation. We have found no solution, and the initial "dealer repair" made no change. We live with it. :(
