I modified my spare tire carrier to fit on the tongue (A frame). it offsets the weight put on the back of the trailer.
Very important to watch how much weight you put on the rear. The amount of overhang from the axles to the rear of the trailer could really cause problems with control if you get too heavy on the rear.
Very true. I have the weight moved evenly to keep me at my 12% tongue weight (1200lbs). I've been towing with the setup for 7 years. - CavemanCharlieExplorer IIII just throw mine in the back of my pickup too.
In fact, I have a 2004 Chevy pickup. The first time I needed the spare for the pickup I found it was next to impossible to remove it from under the truck. So, that tire is in the bed of the pickup too.
They do make a after market kit for the pickup tire that I may put that under there someday because the pickup spare uses up a lot of room. The camper spare, not so much. - stugpanzerExplorerI bought one of THESE for a utility trailer. Simply bolt on to the tongue.
- Shane549ExplorerI also put mine in the under bed storage area of the camper.Plenty
of room left for other gear. I have heard to many horror stories
about back bumpers on RV,s - SoundGuyExplorer

I want to move tire any ideas where to install?
With my previous travel trailer I moved the spare tire off the rear bumper, ditched the bracket, but didn't "install" the tire elsewhere but merely moved it to the trailer's front pass through storage compartment which helped increase the gross tongue weight. Our current trailer came with the spare tire mounted under the A frame so I removed the crank assembly entirely and again moved the wheel to the front storage compartment. It takes up a minimal amount of space, remains completely dry and rust free, and I store spare hoses & power cables in the empty well of the wheel. - rbpruExplorer IIWhen I want to haul bikes, I strap my bike carrier to the spare tire post.
I put the TT tire in the bed of the TV. - Zen_at_the_wheeExplorerI just did this over the weekend and thought i would share. I have a 97 Mallard 19n. I found an old pontiac spare tire winch on craigslist for 40 bucks (no specific reason for pontiac just first one i found). I was going to weld angle iron where needed but got lucky that it fit perfevt between rear battery angle iron and frame. I did two bolts with lock tight, lock washers and nylon nut. I had to move my propane line so not to crush it between frame and tire. The vut down a piece of 1/2 inch pipe with hole on both sides. One side to add lock pin when removing tire and one for a screw driver to turn. Works great and easy.
- dadmomhExplorerIt's my understanding, though not gospel, that the bumpers are mostly for stashing the sewer hose and that's about it. Also, that any mods to the frame will void your warranty. Now, if your trailer is already out of warranty, you may be fine, but I'd be very cautions about carrying firewood, etc on the rear. Wouldn't that also shift your tongue weight quite a lot? Just wondering.
- samsontdogExplorerI put the spare tire under the bed which raises up. Easy to get too
