I just picked up me new camper hauler on Thursday. Now have to start putting the goodies on it. Need to do a Super Hitch ,tie downs and a bed mat and then see where I'm at. I think this should handle my Northern Lite 10 2 CDSE OK

I agree, Ford should have kept the old '99-'10 style dually fenders.

The new Dodge 3500SRW's have 12,300 GVWR??? What is the SRW RGAWR now?

I am a dyed in the wool ford fan but have to say Dodge is building some beautiful and capable trucks.
Nice looking acquisition.

Well I traded in a 2011 F350 King Ranch CC on this truck. I started with a new Ford F250 in 1972 and have had many over the years. Throw in a 2002 Dmax and one 2006 Dodge Cummins along the way. I just didn't trust the Ford diesel enough to lay out my money on a new one and I had good luck with the 2006 Dodge so decided I would buy get one again. The 2011 was a 6.2 gasser. Also I didn't like the looks of the rear fenders on the new Fords. They look almost like the Dodge duallies did years back, kind of like an after thought.

Butch50, with the 8460 weight, does your 3500 have the Aisin?

No, It is the 68RFE trans. I don't tow that much so didn't figure I needed more towing capacity or more HP/Torque so stuck with the stock auto.

Well I said when I loaded up the camper I would get it weighed. So this is my weights.

Truck without camper

Front 5020
Rear 3440
Total 8460

With camper on, no water or food or clothing but everything else is in the camper.

Front 5080
Rear 7140
Total 12220

So my camper carries 36 gallons of water for a weight of about 300#. About another 100# for food and clothing. So this would leave the truck 1380# under the truck GVWR.

I have a 2014, we dropped the camper in the bed and hooked the horse trailer up. What a truck, this thing pulls so well. Congrats on the new truck.

Butch50, I responded to your thread over on the Cummins forum, I see now that you have a NL. I'll have to figure out if I'll have the same issue with my AF. I have the same truck coming. Looking at your pic, I think I'd delete the front flares as well.

Real nice truck. Thinking about doing the same thing, including color, except going with a SRW version. Curious as to the fuel numbers you get when you finally get the TC on and start enjoying it.

On a side note, was wondering how close the brochure was to actual numbers. Brochures show it should have a 5,800# payload (assuming it came with the 68RE).

Your numbers show 14000 - 8460 give it a 5540# payload. So you lost 260# due to factory options. Pretty close numbers for the brochure.

Figuring the same loss for SRW, a 12,300 GVWR shows a 4,630# payload meaning it should net about 4,370# actual capacity.

Yes I do have the 6 speed auto not the Aisin.

Well, I measured the truck and the camper with the swing outs and with flares it is just not going to work. NL sets their jacks in from the outside corner by 2.25". So this means I lose anywhere from 1 to 1.5" off the jacks so X2 that is from 2 to 3".

So I ended up trading in my new truck for one without fender flares but the same color and equipped the same way. :E This one well fit between the jacks but still not to much room. The truck mud flaps are 97" wide and the distance between the camper jacks is 98.5". So .75" on each side, this means it is going to be centered in the bed or else I have hit my fenders.

Here is a picture of my new truck

Well after this it is the same truck I just deflared it today.;) It wasn't to much of a job. I met JumboJet for lunch today and then came home and removed them and got all of the double sided tape off and then washed where the flares were and gave it a coat of wax and you can't even tell there were flares on it.

Jim,

It was nice meeting you today and I want to think you again for the present for my truck. It is already installed and trimmed and its fit nicely. Thanks
