new shocks

Just replaced original shocks on our 04 f350 psd, super crew, longbed 4x4, very heavy truck. I spent $250 on 4 Rancho rs5000. Works fine with 5th wheel hauler attached, runs to stiff in the rear unloaded on the freeway tho. Good results and less money spent. Bilsteins are not my choice.

One of the websites I visited why shopping had FOX shocks. Cheapest I saw was $129. to as high as $2300 :h. Depending on vehicle and application

I have also done some research. The 5100's are listed as for trucks that have been lifted. 4600's for stock trucks.

Yesterday I ordered the KYB to see how they will work. I installed Monroe Reflex on my previous truck. An improvement on OEM and much improved with towing.

If no cost limit...Koni's for all my cars...don't know enough about them for my trucks

Currently have KYB Mono Max's on my Suburban and Silverado. Their next set will
be the same

Have had Eldebrock IAS's on the Sub. Loved them on pavement, but hated them
off roading...unless going to drive like Parnelli Jonees out there....but
they leaked. Still pretty good, but could tell they were not the same. If they
didn't leak, would stick with them for my Sub, as don't go 4x4'ing seriously
much any more. If did, would stick with the KYB's...even though at
first didn't like the KYB's...not as much street performance as
the IAS's...but they didn't leak on me

Have had Monroe's (reflex and another HD version) on the Silverado and they
are better than OEM, but that is it. When they leaked, put in KYB Mono Max
and they are the ones to stick with

Tried Blistein on the Sub right after the IAS's and they are okay, but not
enough control for my type of driving/terrain and they too leaked after pushing
them hard off roading...where the KYB's have been there, done that and are
showing no signs of leaking

A lot depends on the terrain normally or mostly going to travel...how you
drive...what you drive...how your vehicle is setup

After 800 miles of having a 3000# Lance camper in the back with air bags the rear 4600's are already leaking the KYB's did not after 8 yrs so I guess I am in the minorty and the KYB's are cheaper $ go figure

they are an upgrade on a brand new truck off the lot. That much I know for a fact, at least for what I consider good towing.
