New TC, have questions...

After looking at tons (literally) of TC's I've finally decided to have one ordered from the builder with the specific options I want. The floorplan is based on an 8' model and will be sitting on a 2005 Dodge 2500 shortbed with some overhang. I'd like to add skirts with built-in storage but then I'd have to take the tailgate off. Since I'll be unloading the camper on longer trips (ie. elk hunting), I'd like to keep the tailgate and secure the bed with some type of tonneau cover while the TC is off. Are there any other options?

How about going with "skirts" so you can have the extra storage and using one of the mesh "tailgates" the 5er Guys use when you are hunting...

I did the same thing. You will not believe how messed up you tailgate will get while the camper is loaded. Sandblasted going down a dirt hunting trail.
