New to Forum from Alaska, not new to TC's..Love'em!

Hello fellow TCer's, we've had a TC for the past 11 years (Fleetwood Elkhorn 9.5) that we sold this past fall. I became interested in the TC forums as we were looking for a new TC. We purchased a 2013 Eagle Cap 1160 and will pick it up in Whitehorse next month. We live in Eagle River AK, have been here since 1999. The TC in our opinion is the only way to go as we tow our UTV, Snowmachines and a boat. The TC allows us to camp in some of the more remote and beautiful locations here in AK. We have future plans of traveling to the lower 48 with the TC in the winter months, but that is still five years down the road. We love fishing, hunting, site seeing and just enjoying the great outdoors. Anyone traveling up this way please feel free to ask any questions, I'll do my best to help out. We have traveled with the TC from the most Northern point to the most southern point of AK. But we still have a lot explore.

Taking the Glenn highway North you get to Glenallen, at the intersection of the Richardson highway turn right, stay on the Richardson 16 miles and you'll cross the Klutina river. It is in Copper Center. Tangle Lakes area is very nice.

We usually go up Brenwick-Craig Rd and find a spot on the Ahtna land or if we're not staying long just to Klutina Salmon Charters campground.

We camp on Ahtna land off the Richardson, then we travel Klutina lake Rd with UTVs and fish along the way. We will travel all the way to the lake on most trips. It is usually an all day event and a total blast.

Welcome to the forum - Just curious if the Alaska bunch likes to use the Dually rear wheels for their TC campers...

Seems like the safe way to go here in the lower 48 states especially if you are going back off the power grids...

I always wanted the TC truck campers but could never come up with a good way to bring along all my 'needed' junk I like to have with me... My trailer front deck and truck bed are loaded down pretty good on my off-road POPUP trailer trips.

I would probably have to tow a utility trailer if I had a Truck camper.

Then there is what do you do after you setup. You have no truck to go check-out the neighborhood with. I don't think I would like the idea of off-loading the camper and running off and leaving it unattended somewhere back off the power grid trails.

Will probably just stick with my OFF-ROAD POPUP trailer camper.

Hey Roy,
I have a dually and wouldn't want my AF on a SRW truck....ever. I see a pretty even mix up here of DRW and SRW trucks with campers on 'em.
Also I tow either my open flatbed trailer or the enclosed when we go camping, to bring the 4 wheelers or sleds so we can go "check out the neighboorhood". :C

Welcome to the forum and Eagle Cap. We own a 2010 1160 and made the trip to Alaska in 2011. It was a trip of a lifetime we were gone for five months.
