no hot water

I have a Atwood on demand water heater. Model # od 5001 when you turn on the hot water it seems to start but does not fire up. I have been told there is a reset button but I'm unable to find it. Any ideas

Thanks for letting us know you found the problem

  • To 'reset' you have to turn ON/OFF switch OFF then back ON

If heater has been unused you should:

Open hot water faucet to purge any air from lines. Then close it when you get water flow and insure you have water pressure

Turn 12V DC power on.....Heater Switch ON

    LP gas valved in

Open hot water faucet to establish flow
(may have to open/close hot water several ties to establish LP flow to heater)
If it fails to light and locks out then you have to turn switch off/on to reset

If no operation check the 3A in-line fuse

    HERE is manual
  • I would pull the wires from the plug ins on the outside of the control panel. and clean them good. I had one that was constantly a problem after setting for a few months. In fact, there was a placard on the heater, that said to clean the terminals, before replacing the control panel.
  • check you ignition area for mud daubers. they almost completely plugged my ref. After I cleaned it out there have been no problems.
  • I would think IF it try,s to start ? its not the reset .reset trips it should shut everything down.
