North Trail 24 BHS King Bed Mod

Has anyone modified a north trail 24BHS (or similar) to fit a king mattress? It doesn't look super feasible, but am curious.

We went to a mattress store and they did it in a week. no big deal. We use a full size queen in our current trailer but have to raise the mattress when closing the slide again no big deal.

Obviously if the supplied bed is a short queen you'd have to modify or remove the wall between the end of the bed platform and the remainder of the trailer. Since a king is much wider than a queen you'd also have to modify / remove the cabinets on each side of the bed. Certainly it could be done but it's a lot of work that will limit access to the bed on each side. As one who has extended the length of my short queen to a full 80" queen length there's no way I'd consider modifying it any further to accommodate a king size mattress.

Assuming you are looking for width , the first thing to do is measure to see if a wider king mattress would still work as a walk-a-round island bed. It's going be tighter to make the bed. ( due to the beds front location, be advised this mod might add some tongue weight, just be sure your hitch and TV are up to the task)

Now decide if this additional expense is worth it to you.
You would have to remodel the night stand cabinets on each side. Anyone with carpentry skills can do it. Trim it down, rebuild or do away with the drawer if you have them .

The platform under the mattress would need to changed. I would install a new sheet of plywood opposed to adding an additional layer which would be too heavy to lift. As it is, you will probably need new heavier duty pistons to lift the larger/heavier wood platform and larger mattress.
Consider using 2 twins together, use a one pc. topper or just a king sheet to keep them together. It would be easier to install the 2 smaller mattresses and it offers individual firmness.

Brochure doesnt say, but that looks to be a "camper queen" bed which is 74'x60" not a full queen which is 80" long. If so, I dont know if you can buy a short king.
