Northern Lite 9-6 Q Classic converter/charger help/questions

I have a 2008 Northern Lite 9'6” Queen Classic SE model. It currently has the factory standard single stage Parallax 7345 converter/charger (CC). I am going to update the charging section with a 3 stage Progressive Dynamics 4600 series upgrade kit from Best Converters. Has anyone done this with this camper model? I would like to upgrade the wire gauge size from the CC to the battery since NL factory only installed 10 gauge wire, but I do not see an easy way to do this since the CC is located up front on the drivers side of the camper and the batteries are in the rear on the passengers side of the camper. Most of the wires from the CC are bundled together and run under the floor and cabinets and are not easily, if at all, accessible.

If you did update to a Progressive Dynamics 4600 series, which specific 4600 series did you upgrade to? I am considering going to the PD 4635 since this would be a 35 amp charger and would be safe to use with the factory 10 gauge wiring.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
  • I upgraded the converter/charger on both my 2004 NL and signature NL. Both were purchased from Randy at BestConverter. Took about an hour to install. I did not bother with the wiring to the batteries.
  • Maybe you can try this...

If you can pull the wire(s) at the battery box and get movement up front at the converter... You could take a heavier gauge wire and splice it into the existing wire and solder the splice and overcover that splice with heat shrink tube (so you could pull the assembled wires back through the camper to the battery box...so long as the existing wire will move, that is... Just a thought.
  • I used a PDI 9260 to update my 7345. The wires going to the battery are 6 awg and about 12'~15' long. I'm able to charge well with this combo. When it goes into bulk mode I am able to get 57+ amps to the batterys (2x 6v).
