Nova Scotia phone service

We're heading to Nova Scotia for just a couple weeks, what do you do for cell phone service there? We currently have At&t but their plans are not that great for international calling. The lowest plan they have is $30.- for unlimited texts but $1.- per minute call...pretty pricey for what you get. Is there a pay as you go type phone that works up there? What does everybody else do about cell service while out of the country?

Yes, if you have it set for wifi and they call you using wifi it doesn't cost either of you anything.

I will also be in Nova Scotia in August. Looking forward to it.
