We are looking into going to Myrtle Beach In 4/16-5/16. I know there are a few campgrounds on the ocean. I was looking at Ocean lakes and they had sites right along the ocean. Closest sites available were 36 feet from the beach. We are beach people so the closer the better. We will be staying for up to a month and coming from New Hampshire so would like someplace real enjoyable. Just the wife and I. Both will be retired and want to see Myrtle Beach. All info On all campsites will be very helpful! Thank You!

At that time of year, You should have a good selection of sites. Plus in April. It will not be so hot there. And FYI. All of the Oceanfront CGs have sites right at the beach. PirateLand, Lakewood, and Myrtle Beach Travel Park, have larger oceanfront sites. In truth you can't go wrong with any of the MB CGs. We too are beach people. For us, the only reason to go to the beach is the beach. So we get as close as we can. I love being able to just bounce out of the TT and on to the beach.All the mentioned CGs have pools, indoor, and out. PitateLand, and MBTP have Lazy Rivers. All have minigolf, paddle boats, Laundry, Snack bars, Ice Cream, and Camp stores. In truth, You never have to leave the CGs to get most of what you want. There is room, and good roads to ride bikes, and all will rent you a cart to get around if you want, Except for MBTP. They don't have Carts for non perminat campers Only OL will let you bring your own. The South MB CGs are closed to Downtown, and if you want a day trip. Charleston SC. The North CGs are closer to the best restaurants, and Barefoot Landing, and if you want a day trip. Wilmington NC, and of course the BEST donuts in the world at Carolina Beach NC. So call soon, and enjoy.

We were at Pireatland and had an ocean front site. you can go to Any of the maps (Google Earth, MapQuest etc) and go to satellite view and get a good idea of what you are looking for! BTW, Ocean Lakes sites are a bit tight. I`ve seen pictures of where people park there truck in front of their door because there is no room on the site!Either way it is a good time!

We prefer Lakewood and are going there Saturday. One nice thing is if its cold their pool is in a glass building oceanfront. I also do not like the lask of security and rule enforcement at OL but then again it won't be summer yet.

If you're looking for peace and serenity you won't get much being on the front row at OL. Lots of golf carts with loud music and constant traffic. We prefer MBTP just for that reason. The place isn't full of carts running around like crazy, just a much more laid back atmosphere. Others may disagree, that's just my $0.2.

We stayed at Myrtle Beach State Park. They have full hook up sites. Is not as close to the ocean but it ouly takes a few minutes to walk to the beach. Its a real nice park the camp sites are spaced farther apart than the commercial campgrounds. The only bad thing I have to say about it is that it's in the flight path of the air port.Now if you want something a litte father away from the city just down the road is Huntington State Park. Its nice we stayed there last year. But you can only get sites with water and electric.

That is site 2089. Most of the sites there are bowed front to back for drainage reasons. They don't have fire pits there so proximity to our camper was not an issue :)

This is not true of the off season at Ocean Lakes very few golf carts & noise in the off seasons. Very laid back. Summer is a different story & very busy of all the campgrounds in Myrtle Beach. We go 3-4 weeks annually.

We prefer Ocean Lakes, Lakewood has a dog size policy (Think it is 25 lbs). The Golf Carts parades & Boom boxes only happen in the summer when the kids are out of school. Have NOT seen it in the off seasons. Security is also cracking down on teenage issues like these. Now there is a $100 fine & loss of cart usage if cruising after 11PM, Underage driving, load music, etc. We go often in the off season & it is a totally different atmosphere.

Other than possibly Easter break week you will be very surprised how calm & laid back it is.

Where at? at PL you cannot have a golfcart out after 11pm.

After going to Pirateland since 1990, we said never again after nights of lit up golf carts and boomboxes so we couldn't hear ourselves think. And this was an expensive oceanfront site. Never used to be like this.

We've been to Lakewood and Myrtle Beach State Park in the past and are going back to MBSP the end of March. Next time will be Huntington Beach SP.

I agree with Terry. I had plans for OL? But after seeing pics like those above or drive through videos on you tube I went with Pireate Land.

That site is why we don't go to OL. Very small sites. TV parked in the front door, against the picnic table, no room for even a grill, bikes, or eazy up. No problem if you spend all your time in the RV. But we like to play on our site. The GBs like to make mud pies, and that is too close to the road. We need more than a parking spot for the TT, There are as many as 10 of us in the TT, and we need room to park 3 vehicles, 10 bikes, large grill, and room to play.

Not trying to kill your buzz. Just giving more info. The other CGs have much larger Oceanfront sites. OL is good if you don't need much room, and don't mind parking in the road. It is also easy to get to.

We have stayed at Lakewood and Ocean Lakes this past year. We are going back to Lakewood this summer for a week. We liked the High Steppin Country Show in their oceanfront amphitheater, free tickets are included in the campsite price. Behind the stage you look out on the ocean. Very nice. They have included in site price, paddle boats, 3 water tube slides, mini golf, bikes. We were 9 spots from the ocean. All you can eat fish fry on 2 nights and the food we tried at other on site eateries were good. Staff was nice, bathrooms clean. Sites are not super big but was just fine for us. Things are speed out so if you don't like walking have to rent a golf cart. Ocean Lakes seemed a bit wilder for our tastes. We enjoyed both but Lakewood more for us. Have fun!
