Yes, it sounds crazy high, but I'm with the others about having to see the invoice first.
I know the owners of my local repair garage, and they have people come in asking (for example) "do whatever my car needs right now". So they go into the owners manual and go through all the maintenance checks and changes according to the mileage. People come back, are shocked at the multi-hundred dollar bill. "I thought all it needed was an oil change?!". Happens often, even with the shop practically grilling customers on what exactly they want done and are willing to pay for.
