So the Dmax was stock. Intake and exhaust do nothing. Already can flow more than stock anyway.
You can try to pick it apart. Did they launch in 4wd? Traction control on or off, didn't see any tire smoke from either.
Btw the diesel wouldn't come off the line as well without build a little boost.
Bottom line, fun to watch.
Bottom line, you'd have to put a lot into that Raptor to even give a mildly tuned DMax a run for its money in a drag race or towing.
By the same token I'd take the raptor all day for 4 wheelin and off road performance and comfort.

harmark, you better put your steel pot on, that is not going to set well with the diesel folks. :R

AS has been said, the altitude will have hurt the NA truck more than the turbo diesel. In the video, they go over the diesel is not stock, and has improved intake and exhaust.

Also as with so much it come to the drivers, the guy driving the diesel power brakes to get the turbo spun up, and get some RPM on the engine, while the other guy just waits for the flag to drop then 'floors it'. I'm not saying it was staged, but it sure seemed like one of the drivers was trying to loose.

Gotta love the simple old diesels!
My stock '07 ran a 9.74 (low 15 sec. 1/4) 1/8th mile @ 71 mph 2.2 60'
Not neck break speed, but not bad either for a 3.5 ton vehicle

I have a 2006 LBZ and I was pulling a boat up hill. 1st stop light the Cummins powered Dodge revved it and took off. I let him beat me to the next light. Then I waited and he got a headstart and about halfway up the hill I passed him. Wouldn't look at him at him next light.I get 17-19 MPG on the road, 15 around here and 9.8 pulling my TT maxed to 19K.

Didn't listen to it, but presume the Dmax is bone stock since no smoke.
Altitude hurt the NA raptor. Would be that bit faster at sea level and keep up.
Spend $500 on each of them and watch the LB7 walk the gasser like a dog with just a canned tune in the 100-150hp range.
Pound for pound the early Dmaxes are some of the quickest cheap working mans vehicles out there from that era. With just an Edge tuner, my old LB7 ran neck n neck from a dig or a roll with a good running 4.6L Stang GT with every bolt on mod short of a blower. Only car I really raced with it save for a few stoplight runs with random cars.
It surprised me how quick it really was. Those trucks will run 13s with just a tune and nothing else.
