When it was posted that the ford f150 used Aluminum, which also contained magnesium. I asked what percentage it would need be, for magnesium to cause flammability. I got a good answer from one poster....

Just out of curiosity... what does any of this matter? 18 minutes, 21 minutes or 30 minutes... if a human being is in that fire he is dead LONG before the magnesium has burned it apart.
Any vehicle can catch fire if the right ingredients are present. I've seen how quickly a small vehicle fire can become fully engulfed. As a police officer, I've seen just how useless a small fire extinguisher is against a vehicle fire, without magnesium. I've felt how hot a car fire gets without magnesium... you won't survive it.
Bottom line, Ford/GM/Ram/Toyota/Nissan... I don't want to be inside any vehicle that is on fire. The magnesium doesn't scare me any more than the fuel tank or plastics that are in EVERY vehicle do.
