Every choice the OP listed is a compromise in one way or another.

Travel trailer makes sense at any age.

The wife and I have camped religiously for 36 years and even after retiring, chose another TT without hesitation.....we camp year around.

What ever works for you is what makes sense.
As long as you can stay out there, it's all good.

I'm on my 6th also.
My favorite was my first, a home made class C built like a toy hauler, garage in back, RV in the front, but gas was cheap 20 yrs ago. Though I hated paying insurance and taxes on a camper that with each year lost value because it was a van as much as a camper. Over the years I paid more in insurance than I paid for camper it seems. Motor and trans got closer to the inevitable end with each passing mile.
A foreigner hit me and I was finally able to sell it for what I wanted to get, lol.

That was the last motor home for me. Trailers hold value despite miles driven and do not require insurance so they can sit unused as long as you like, or can be used as much as you like and do not lose value like a vehicle. No motor, no trans to maintain, just recaulk the seams and keep the batteries happy is all.

Two truck campers and two trailers. I still have a TC.

Now my choice is a home made trailer again. Cargo to camper trailer. Is built to my needs, much more durable than a stick framed trailer, lighter, more aero. So time will tell how long I keep it, but so far am happy. The best part; no dinette.
