Outside LCD Mount

Installed an outside LCD mount on the trailer this weekend. Few pics of the result. Mount is all aluminum and I used stainless screws. I drilled clear through the wall and installed a wood backing that is screwed/liquid nails to the wall. The area is under the kitchen cabinet and completely hidden. The mount is very solid. I used Non Sag Dicor to seal both holes and around the mount. The mount did have a cord keeper/hook on the bottom that I used a cut off tool to remove. Much cleaner look. I also installed the cable connection as well that ties into the power antenna/cable connection like all the other drops in the trailer. Will be testing it out in a few weeks during our annual trip to Fort Wilderness.

It is the Ready America Model # MRV3500

Found the best price on Amazon. The mounts (comes with two) are all aluminum and very solid. The week link is the plastic knob that some reviewers broke. If just snugged up it is fine and plenty tight. I can see if you over tighten it, the knob may break. I'm going to get a steel knob to replace it with. The can be found at ACE/HD or any good HW store.

Perfect, thanks!

Our Outback came from the factory with a TV mount on the outside. We could move the TV between inside and out, but it is kinda small at 19". I bought a compartment door on ebay and cut it into the side of the camper. I mounted a 36" TV on a swing arm mount so it can be viewed from any angle. This has been the best mod I have made to the camper.

Very nice.

My outside TV consisted of a large sheet hung from the awning track, and an LCD projector and DVD player as my video.

Looks nice, very clean, looks factory installed. Good job.

I've considered mounting various "things" to the outside of our camper, but have decided not to, especially a television. A television screen is subject to glare and light. The brighter it is outside, the harder it is to see the screen. If the sun hits the screen in just the right way, you can't see the picture at all. Now, if you are parked in exactly the same spot all the time,it might be different, once you figure out where the glare is. But for us, especially the television, we leave it completely mobile, can turn it facing the trailer, away from the sun, and we can sit under the awning. The awning provides enough shade you can see the screen. Or if we want to move it out further, under a tree, or even around the fire pit. And during the course of the day, if we are watching outside, it's not uncommon at all to move the television several times to keep glare from blocking the screen. If you rely on the same mount all the time (especially outside), you may want to keep a reserved lawn chair and a longer coax cable for the antenna so you can move it around too.

I think you can order another mount. Mine came with two.

Have the same mount, but I do have to tighten up the swivel points occasionally. Wish I had another mount so I could move my tv outside occasionally...

Didn't have much luck viewing your photos on your link...

They have to start with HTTP and end with .jpg and be inside the IMG and /IMG brackets

DAVIDP's view

I always thought it would be a good idea to mount the outside HDTV on a swing-our mount from the storage bay area.

Then when the weather got bad or you wanted to leave the area for a few minutes you could just swing it back inside the storage bay.

Something like this photo...

Google Image

We have watched our HDTV sitting on an outside table a few times but then when you look around there is always three or four folks standing in the roadway watching it with you haha... Then there are those that will yell at you to turn it down - too loud... We don't camp much in the public campgounds... I can watch all of the HDTV i want outside sitting on a creek-side camp site... Fish and Squirrels don't mind at all...
