Paint or replace exterior striping / decals

We've sold our Toy Hauler and purchased an older 2000 Komfort nice and clean travel trailer. We have modification we'd like to do on it and one of them is the exterior striping / decals.

Is it best to painting the exterior striping, purchase replacement striping or have striping/deals made?

These are just the straight vertical lines we're wanting to freshen up.

Suggestions, recommendations, options?
  • It is not easy as it takes a 2 part paint and 2 part primer 1st. Look up refinishing a bass boat. You want to use Epoxy Polymide paint and I'd put on 3 layers of Primer, 1st one thin, and 3 layers of finish. You can even put clear over that if it is dull. Just tape it out, sand with 250 grit, clean, prime, paint. By the end of summer you should be finished. LOL Nah! Should take a week. Practice on a piece of plastic from Home Depot.
  • I painted my old Starcraft. It has aluminum siding. The details are in the build thread in my signature line, "The Cowboy/Hilton".
Trying the photo posting app that this site uses to move the image to Imgur:

Guess it's time to move my RV related images to Imgur.
  • I did this to my old 1996 Rockwood. Had aluminum siding. I took a wire wheel on my drill motor and ground off the old paint and decal stripping. Masked it off and painted with rattle cans different color strips and then applied a red 1/4 inch strip tape that I got at the local auto parts store. Looked as good as new and wasn't as much work as it sounds.
  • Is it hard to paint the stripes yourself? I can't seem to find any online modifications where people have painted their decals/striping to look at.
  • We have aluminum siding. It will be stored in a shop (warehouse type shop). We can paint it no problem. I'll I see is cracking on one side of the trailer on the stripe. DH would just leave it, but I can't stand it. LOL
  • What type of siding does your Trailer have? How will you store it? Covered in a garage or out in the Sun. Paint and Graphics don't last long in the intense Sun. Graphics can be protected with 303 product. Paint can be waxed.
