Plans with Big Bunks, Big Storage Door? Aerolite 292?

I came across the Aerolite 292DBHS floorplan and really like it.

Have you seen another travel trailer that has bunks this large (48"x96") and a large storage access door?

This seems like a very nice solution. A good place to store bikes. The bunk room also has great windows for views out the back of the trailer when your gear is removed.

You could accomplish this with a toy hauler too, but the interior layout doesn't usually work as well, and you would have a heavier vehicle and tongue weight and no rear window.

  • OP here. Just checking back if anybody has seen another floorplan like the Aerolite 292 DBHS with large bunks across back and decent windows in that area?
  • The bunks on this Outdoor RV Creek Side 27DBHS are not huge, but decent. And it has nice access doors to store bikes or other stuff.

The happijac bunks are suitable if used as intended. They do move up on the opposite end when you put your full weight on the end but only and inch or so and it is the way the brackets that hold the bed attach to the track that moves the beds up and down. The beds could be beefed up easily by just replacing the plywood bed. As is I wouldn't want kids jumping up down on them. However, I've been up there, and My 200 lbs.+ son has uses them whenever we go camping, They are adequate but if you felt the need you can replace the 1/2 inch ply with 3/4 inch ply and they would be a lot better.

I did however put screw through the steps of the ladder before you even going out the first time. The ladder must of been meant as a decorator piece because it sure is not suitable for use.

The door is plenty large enough to put the bikes in fully assembled with no modifications. I have a home built PVC pipe bike rack I use regularly and put 4 adult bikes in standing up.

    Thank you!

I have a 282DBHS, love the happijac bunks and the bike door.

Thank you. I was looking at that plan too. I like the fact that it is a little shorter and the bathroom has outside access. Do the happijac bunks seem pretty stable? Is the door large enough that bikes fit fully assembled?

With only a brochure CCC weight of 1098lbs I'd be maxed out and I don't take kids camping. Cool layout though. It is lacking for closet space, but if you don't need the bunks you could throw some cloths rods in there and have a large walk in closet.

Thank you. I'll have to look at the cargo capacity. Agree on the cool layout.
