Pop up Fabric question

Just bought a 88 Hallmark Vail 9.5. Camper is in great condition. Has one Issue. There is one spot on the pop up fabric that is tearing slightly. On a rivet in the middle of the fabric. Rivet connects to fabric loop that goes around telescoping frame. Need to drill out rivet and patch maybe a 1.5 x2.5 inch spot. Any suggestions on what material to use? Does someone make a patch kit? Fabric is perfect everywhere else. Looks practically new. Any advice appreciated.

  • You can also contact "Bear Creek Canvas" They will have what you need, or you can call a local awning material service.
I really think a local RV dealer is your best bet. They should even have some repair "canvas" on hand.
  • Wow quick answers. The rip is really minor. I am a big fan of duct tape, but was looking for a more permanent fix. The rest of it looks great. Corners good, screens in great shape. Think the fabric loop got bound to the frame as it was going up and tore a little bit. I will call Hallmark but am concerned they will just say must replace all fabric.
  • I have noticed on my pop up the corners do wear. We use a really good black duct tape at work. Sometime down the road I was going to reinforce the corners with it.
  • I don’t know anything about fabric but I do see you’re in Parker CO. I’d give Hallmark a call and see what they suggest. They really do love their customers and are very friendly people; I’d be surprised if they didn’t have something you could use in stock if you don’t mind taking a little drive.

By the way my last Hallmark was a 1994 that I bought used from a Lance dealer in 1998. I needed a few things for it when I first bought it and some information on how it was wired. The people at Hallmark treated me like I had bought it directly from them.
They truly provide some of the best customer service in the RV manufacturing industry. That’s why I bought a new one from them when the time came.
  • Maybe some one that does auto or boat seats and top would have a small piece of material for you and or fix it for you or tell you the best way to repair it your self.
