Not owning one but owning a competitor, no soft side pop up will have as much head room as a hard sided unit and none will have an excessive amount anyway. None are 'easy to get into' unless you are extremely agile and why we have a bunk ladder....

I find a pop up's bunk to be less 'constrained' than a hard side because you can open it up and have screens all around, whereas a hard side has a window on each side.

If you suffer from claustraphobia, a truck camper of any design isn't for you. A motel is.... Truck campers are about maximizing living space in a minimal area.

Far as delamination is concerned, any Filon sided camper will delaminate if the seals aren't maintained properly and water gets under the Filon, between the it and the walls. No difference between a pop up and a hardside. You get the sames issues from the same lack of maintenance.

Currently I am traveling with my second NorthStar 850. The new one has more headroom in the cabover than the first one and I have never felt claustrophobic. So far my "new" one has gone over 60K with no problems at all. Rex at NorthStar is great to work with and all the crew is fantastic in my opinion. I have had work done at the factory several times on a somewhat emergency basis (my fault each time) and they have been very accommodating. The campers I have had have been great units and have given me MANY miles of service and many months of enjoyment traveling all over North America. So far no problems with delamination.

have the 850 sc.i can sit up in bed with my head tilted slightly forward.i'm 6 foot tall.when i'm laying in bed looking down the camper i still can't get over how big it looks from that perspective,so no claustrophobe issues for me.i'm going on 4 (?) years and no de-lam or any water issues to speak of so far.in fact,the only issues so far have been broken marker lenses,door closers and awning.all through my own fault.

We have a 2005 850SC - second owner - had it for about 6 years. Have had no problems with the camper; seems to be very well made. I'm a bit claustrophobic by nature but have never felt uncomfortable lying in the cab over. One thing I love about the camper is you can open up the canvas - very nice on a sunny, hot day. :)

2008 850SC. While I can't sit up in the cabover bed, I have never felt claustrophobic. Like others have said, the 3 sided opening windows allows for plenty of 'space'. I have not had any delamination, but I did have one of the top latches pull loose. It should of had more backing than just the thin laminate.
