Pop-up Roof too far back?

OK this is kind of a random question but here goes...

We have been fixing up our old/new to us Palomino all summer and are finally getting ready to take it on the first trip. It's allllmost there, but we are having problems with the rear right side (looking out from inside the camper) where the steel corner bracket of the HECO lift system is.

It was really bent when we got it - like almost 45 degrees, instead of a straight out right angle like it should be. The wood was bad, and the screws & bolts were missing and/or extremely rusted. We replaced the wood and hardware and got it as straight as possible (not perfect but much closer).

First we were having problems because the whole side trim was bending in so you couldn't close it up. After much trial & error we finally got it to close, but now the rear edge of the roof is about 1 inch too far back, so that the outside corner latches won't close, and the entry door has to be kind of pushed up to open/close it.

Anybody else ever had a similar situation?
We are trying/hoping to leave ASAP but need to fix this first!
  • I remember having one heck of a time getting that right rear corner torsion back in place. I also had rotten wood about half way up both sides and the back. It was about 3 1/2 yrs ago when I fixed my Sun-Lite. I had some pics posted on here some where.

Sounds like you may have made the right side to long when you replaced the wood. Or you didn't get the bracket all the way into the torsion arm. Hard to tell with our seeing it. Like bobndot say's, pic would help.

I think I ended up putting the bracket on and using a large C-clamp to force the bracket into position. I remember having the BIL come over and help.
  • Just to help you get the ball rolling faster.
If your able , post some pics. There is a lot of talented people here ( wish I was one of them) that could offer help but may not be able to visualize the exact problem.
