will make a new thread on this but... how many manufactures are there of pop up slide ins?
been looking on web and cant find but two palomino and one other

A quick scan of this forum and you will find a lot of various brands. Also read TC magazine. Try googling pop up truck campers. I hear you about the wind, here on the great plains, the wind never stops blowing.

Jayco (no AC) is right at 8-1/2 feet to the top of the vent cover while mounted on a 4x4 F150.

From the ones I have looked at, they are about 5' tall closed, then add the bed height. My bed is about 39", so you are looking at a height of about 8' from the ground. Be sure to add in any vent covers, antennas, or AC. What are your reasons to go to a pop-up?

wind resistance number 1
will be using on a 28 ft gooseneck trailer with a rock krawler tucked in behind it was thinking since it was really behind the truck it would help with mpg's
also would to fit in a 10 ft door on trailer that is lower then pick up bed

I have a Travel Lite 875 PSBR. It is a pretty decent camper for the price. Probably about 2000 lbs total loaded. The factory is in Indiana.

Truck is in my signature. we are 9.5 tall with air conditioner. If you have 10' garage height you are good to go. ...Outfittters/most pop up-ups, are no more hard to heat or cool than a hardside. The differences are a non issue. We have camped in the middle teens with ours and we live in swamp country. No worries...Good luck my friend...

Yes I have one.

Yes I like it.

Height depends on brand of pop-up, options like A/C & your truck (4x2 or 4x4). Pretty sure my rig is just a little over 10'.

Better not quote me on my camper height!! :h

I'm on my second. The first was a SunLite Eagle on a Chevy 1500 4x4 with an air conditioner on the roof. Second is a NorthStar 850 on a GMC 2500HD 4x4 with no air. The first was actually only about 6 inches taller than the second. More of the height difference has to do with the truck tires and suspension since the second truck rides a lot higher than the first. While I've never measured them for door clearance, I know enough not to take them thru covered bridges and low clearances.

As far as air; the only time I used it in the first camper was in the driveway. It did cool the camper down quite well. I don't really need it and as previously stated, there's plenty of windows to let the breeze blow thru.

Yep, I have one....Four Wheel Camper.
And yes, I love it.

And yes, no need for ac in Colorado.
(FWC mounts their ac in the rear window if ordered)

Mine clears my 8' door by a few inches.

No A/C on ours, we don't need it in the Colorado mountains. Clears a 9 ft. garage door by about 7 inches on my Ram.

Our Northstar TC 650 is on a Dodge 3500 4x4 and it will fit under an 8 ft. door(it does not have a roof AC). As far as cooling it when the top is up it has more windows than a hard side and will cool off quickly if there is a breeze. We have no experience cooling it with an AC as you don't need one where we live.
