Portable room AC

I have had AC problems with my trailer the last 2 years it stopped working during our vacation twice.

Hard to get it fixed when on the road so i was thinking about a Portable room AC for emergency use.

Anyone else here who has done this and any pros and cons to it?

The exact reason I got the dual hose unit that sucks the condensate and expels it out the exhaust hose. Never have to drain anything.

Depending on your window setup,these are cheap and do a good job even off the Honda 2K generator.I have a couple windows I can use it in.

Whoa. 2 failures on a 2016?

Sounds like maybe the root cause wasn't found? Such as a loose connection causing low voltage?

The portable units work well enough. The biggest problem is getting rid of the condensate. You would be surprised at how much water they will collect. I don't think your regular crank out type windows will work very well for the vent, If you have any sliders you probably could make those work. Either that or duct tape.

I bought one with just one hose for my moms 1200 sq/ft house. The house had no insulation in the walls/floors and only 3" in the attic and leaky, single pane windows. The unit was 12K btu.
I was shocked how well it worked. The AC had no problem cooling the living area's of her house even when she waited until it was hot to turn it on.
So yea, form our experience they work well.

I made one work very well in a cargo trailer. I ran a duct for replacement air to the back of the machine. Only cool air went out into the trailer and warm air came in the rear corner and out the floor. Easy in a cargo trailer.

That's exactly the problem with those. They draw in the same amount of air that they exhaust, which is going to be hot air from outside.

I had one in my small office space in my shop. I sold it on Craigslist after 1 summer of usage.

Simple to vent one through the floor or window. They are not as effective as window or top mounted units since they draw hot air into the trailer to replace what is vented out. Two hose models are much better.

You have to vent and AC. That would be problematic with a trailer.
